Technical requirements

Compare the operating condition, not just the category name

Use target SPL, nominal impedance, amplifier power at the connected load, crossover region, input count and auxiliary bus count as measurable checkpoints. The table gives selection logic, not fixed engineering values for every room.

Limits that remain after selection

  • Sustained high SPL can invoke amplifier thermal protection or loudspeaker limiting; it is not solved by raising input gain.
  • Compact systems cannot provide engineered long-throw coverage for every arena, stadium or outdoor audience geometry.
  • Indoor enclosures and electronics are not automatically rated for rain, salt, dust or temperature extremes.
  • General-purpose pro audio does not replace certified emergency voice evacuation equipment where regulation requires it.

A repeatable verification path uses a demo configuration, a documented gain structure, a calibrated measurement position and a second pass by an application engineer when the venue risk justifies it.

Describe the audience geometry

Add mounting limits, program type, target level, available power and operator experience. That context is more useful than a request for “the loudest speaker.”
